American Girl Samantha's World
|
Samantha Parkington is a bright, compassionate girl living with her wealthy
grandmother, Grandmary, in 1904. It’s an exciting time of change in America,
and Samantha’s world is filled with frills and finery, parties and play. But
Samantha sees that times are not good for everybody. That’s why she tries to
make a difference in the life of her friend, Nellie, a servant girl whose life is
nothing like Samantha’s.
When you enter the 1910 House Bed & Breakfast, you are stepping back into
time directly into Samantha’s World! Our Edwardian era home is fully
appointed with antiques just like the ones that you would find in Grandmary’s or
Aunt Cornelia's homes.

General Information:
Upon arrival to the 1910 House, you will be
welcomed by your innkeeper, fully appointed in
period butler attire, who will show you into the
parlor, much like “Mr. Hawkins” would when
visitors came to Grandmary’s. There you will be
greeted by Samantha, my realistic child-sized
mannequin, authentically dress in her burgundy
plaid meet outfit, black stockings and Mary Jane
shoes. Samantha has set up her own little tea party
on our center table, using her American Girl Tea
Set. Her friends include her mohair teddy bear and
Aunt Cornelia’s adorable little puppy dog, Jip!
*(all Themed Tea Parties are limited to 12 maximum Guests)

Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest and bring their favorite American Girl
Doll. (We have 4 finely dressed American Girl loaner-dolls on hand who would love
to attend the afternoon tea in case a child forgets to bring their doll.) Dollies may sit
on their young ladies’ laps or they can also be seated at their own Queen Anne doll-
sized tables for two! A butler-style formal afternoon tea will be served, complete
with antique-style china, crystal, silverware and lace linens. The menu will include
many of the items found in Samantha’s Cooking Studio which she so enjoyed, like
cream cheese and walnut sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches and gingerbread
squares! Samantha Table Talkers question cards will be included to stimulate
conversation, and Samantha’s Cooking Studio place cards will be at each guests
table setting.
Samantha loved the gleam of silver and the glitter of crystal in Grandmary’s candlelit
dining room. On display in the 1910 House dining room for all to enjoy will be a
beautiful selection of unusual Edwardian silver serving pieces such as a butter dome,
salt servers, sugar server, and condiment caster – items commonly used during the
era which typically would be found in Samantha’s Grandmother’s home.
Music from the era will be softy playing in the background as our guests enjoy their
delicious afternoon tea. They will also be treated to some musical selections played
on our circa 1913 Victor Victrola!
We will also set-up an enjoyable and informative display of antique dolls, girls
clothing like Samantha would have worn, women and men’s apparel from the era,
as well as some vintage wedding accessories typically used by Edwardian brides like
Aunt Cornelia.
One popular toy during the era was the Teddy
Bear. For an additional fee, a stuff-a-teddy bear
craft can be included to enhance our guest’s party
experience.
Each guest will take home a lovely cellophane
wrapped china teacup and saucer set as a
remembrance of their Afternoon Tea with
Samantha!
